Lebanon County resident Deborah Wright won the inaugural title of Ms. United World 2022 on Sept. 5 in Austin, Texas.

The pageant was hosted by United World Pageants.

Wright lives in Lebanon with her daughter, Elle, and her boyfriend, Chris. She works as an account manager for Ecore, a recycled rubber floor manufacturer in Lancaster.

She has been competing in pageants, including Miss America, since she was 16, and she was able to help pay for her college tuition with the $10,000 she won in scholarships. She has been Miss Delaware USA 2002, Mrs. Maryland International, Mrs. Pennsylvania International, Mrs. Galaxy and Miss Pennsylvania for America 2020.

Wright is actively involved in community initiatives, such as DARE, the Girl Scouts of America, Girls on the Run, the Special Olympics, American Red Cross, and the American Cancer Society, according to a press release from United World Pageants. Wright is also passionate about Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and has been involved with the organization since 2009.

Her mission, according to the press release, is to “change the lives of children with cancer through funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families, and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer.”
