Pennsylvania National Guard officials announced Thursday that two lanes of Fisher Avenue will be temporarily closed for about a week beginning Monday, April 18.
Fisher Avenue will be reduced from four lanes to two lanes during this period as construction of the first of two planned access control points at Fort Indiantown Gap proceeds.
“We’re excited to see access-control point project progressing after years of delays,” said Lt. Col. Andrew O’Connor, acting garrison commander, in a release. “We urge motorists exercise caution in the area.”
FTIG officials said that the main gate and visitors center will be located on Fisher Avenue near the intersection of Biddle Road. Excavation began in late 2021 and construction of the gate and visitors center is expected to take approximately one year to complete.

An east gate will be placed on Fisher Avenue near the intersection with Quartermaster Road, with work planned to begin in the first half of 2023 and expected to take about a year.
FTIG officials said that the gates will not affect access to Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Memorial Lake State Park, Marquette Lake, the Keystone Conference Center or Fort Indiantown Gap’s hunting and fishing areas.
