PennDOT is seeking public feedback on its plans for reconstruction and stream restoration along Lingle Avenue (Route 3017) in South Londonderry Township, North Londonderry Township, and Palmyra Borough.

PennDOT said that the purpose of the project is to reduce or eliminate flooding and standing water on Lingle Avenue, as well as widening the shoulder where feasible.

As part of the project, Lingle Avenue would be resurfaced between Palmyra Road and just south of West Cherry Street and East Caracas Avenue. Sidewalk will also be constructed to connect the two existing sidewalk systems at either end of the project segment.

PennDOT said that the improvements should minimize or eliminate the recurring flooding between Northside Drive and the Lingle Avenue Elementary School entrance.

The estimated cost of the project is $5.83 million.

See the plans in high-resolution here (PDF).

Public comment is being invited on the plans through July 30.

PennDOT projects construction of the project would begin in the 2025 construction season and be completed in the 2026 construction season. The 4.3-mile detour (visible below) is expected to last approximately four to six months.
