The Lebanon VA Medical Center is in the midst of a leadership transition.
Robert W. Callahan Jr., who has been director and CEO of the Lebanon VAMC since 2007, will retire this week, according to a press release.
A national search will be conducted to select the center’s next director. In the interim, Margaret Wilson, associate director for patient care services, will serve as acting director.
“Serving Veterans alongside the dedicated professionals at the Lebanon VA and our community clinics has been among the greatest honors of my life,” said Callahan in the release. “I delayed planned retirement last year and I look forward to more time with family and pursuing other interests.”
“The medical center and our community clinics are well-positioned to continue our long legacy of caring for Veterans.”
According to the press release, during Callahan’s tenure, the Lebanon VAMC greatly expanded its care for veterans and doubled its staff size. In November, Callahan was one of 12 VA senior leaders chosen for the 2022 Presidential Rank Awards.
Callahan ends his career with more than 34 years of federal service, including an earlier stint at the Lebanon VAMC from 1993 to 1997 when he served as an occupational safety & health manager.
