The South Londonderry Board of Supervisors recognized Officer Jared Zimmerman at Tuesday’s meeting following his receipt of the Lebanon County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #42 Officer of the Year Award.
Supervisors unanimously passed Resolution #10-20-23 declaring April 11, 2023, Officer Jared Zimmerman Day.
“Since the moment that I sat in on his interview, I knew we were really snagging a stellar gentleman who is very humble, very passionate about what he does,” said board chair Faith Bucks.
Bucks said that, in addition to his work as an officer, Zimmerman works as an EMT and teaches LEAD programs. Zimmerman was first sworn into the South Londonderry Township police in April 2017.
Following a public hearing, the board also granted the Rising Sun’s request for conditional use to demolish part of a historic structure.

In other news, supervisors:
- Unanimously agreed to the Killinger Creek Pollution Reduction Plan.
- Announced that the township is undergoing modifications to the zoning ordinance, which will be first reviewed at their June 28 workshop.
- Unanimously agreed to plans for the Got the Nerve Triathlon, to be held May 20.
- Unanimously approved waivers for and the land development plan for Stonebrook South, as recommended by the planning commission.
- Unanimously approved waivers for and the lot addition request for 2037 S. Forge Road adding two acres of wooded land to the property, as recommended by the planning commission.
- Unanimously approved the March 14 meeting minutes (PDF).
- Unanimously approved bill and payroll lists.
- Heard reports including the township manager’s, police department’s, and library’s reports.
South Londonderry Township supervisors meet at 27 W. Market St. on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. The next meeting will be held May 9. These meetings are open to the public and do not require registration.
