Firefighters responded Thursday morning, Nov. 9, to a blaze involving multiple dwellings on Mifflin Street in Lebanon city. One Lebanon man died in the fire.
Reports of the fire on the 200 block of Mifflin St. came in shortly before 11 a.m.

Lebanon city fire chief Aaron “AJ” Sweitzer told WGAL-8 that firefighters discovered “some pretty heavy hoarding” inside the house and so made the decision to fight the fire from the outside. A neighbor told WGAL-8 that they saw the resident go back inside the house after the fire had started; he ultimately perished in the blaze. Authorities have not yet publicly identified him.
Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshals continue to investigate.

The fire was reported just hours after a fire at a Met-Ed substation at 160 N. 16th St. knocked out power to thousands of Lebanon city residents.
