On Thursday, Jan. 11, coffee shops across the county will open their doors to coffee aficionados and occasional coffee sippers alike for the fifth run of Java Journey, Visit Lebanon Valley’s annual coffee trail.

“This will be our fifth year for the Java Journey, and every year, it interests more people,” said Jennifer Kuzo, president of Visit Lebanon Valley, in a written statement. “It’s a great way to discover the best cups of joe while experiencing charming small towns, unique flavors, and secret drinks.”
Lebanon County’s official tourism office expects “a strong return” for this year’s coffee trail, which will run through Saturday, March 9, following the success of last year’s Java Journey, in which half of the passports that were purchased were completed and returned.
To participate, visit one of the coffee business locations listed below and purchase a passport and mug while supplies last for $10. Use the passport to gain exclusive access to a “secret” beverage at each location and receive a respective stamp.
Once a participant receives all 12 stamps, they have completed their passport and can return it for a sheet of stickers and a chance to win various prizes, including the grand prize of a stay at the Annville Inn Bed & Breakfast.
This year’s Java Journey will feature Ancestor Coffeehouse & Crêperie (Cornwall and Campbelltown), Baked Sweet Coffeehouse & Bakery (Myerstown), Caffeination Station (Palmyra), City Watch Coffee (Lebanon), Mill 72 Bake Shop & Café (Lebanon), Swatara Coffee Company (Jonestown and Annville), Sydney Roasting Company (Lebanon), Timber Creek Coffee (Myerstown), Timeless Café (Lebanon), and Whirling Dervish Bakery & Coffee Shop (Annville).
“The Java Journey allows each coffeeshop to showcase their individual styles and skills while also uniting us to create a memorable experience for each participant,” said Ally Tumminaro of Ancestor Coffeehouse & Crêperie in the release.
Visit Lebanon Valley has also released a video in Spanish featuring Moraima Gonzalez, of Cakes by Moraima, explaining how the journey works.
“Last year, many Spanish-speaking people at my café did not understand the Java Journey and would ask me to explain it to them,” said Gonzalez in a news release. “I hope that this video can provide that much-needed information so Spanish-speakers can join in on the fun of visiting all the Java Journey locations.”
