A 30-year-old Reading man was pronounced dead at the scene of a fatal collision Thursday afternoon at the intersection of State Drive and Schaeffer Road (Route 419) in South Lebanon Township.
According to reports, Marilus Mousardy was killed in the crash, which involved two mini-vans. Several other people were injured.
Lebanon County Department of Emergency Services logs show that a call for “MV-Accident W/Injuries” was received at 4:56 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, and that the coroner was called to the scene at 6:09 p.m.
According to a South Lebanon Police Department release published on Crimewatch at 9:14 a.m. Friday, a “mini-van containing at least nine people was struck while it was in the travel lane [by an] oncoming mini-van occupied by 3 persons.”
In addition to Mousardy, the release said, “all other occupants in both vehicles were transported by ambulance or helicopter to several medical facilities. Their conditions are not know at this time.”
Lebanon County deputy coroner Briana Reigel, who responded to the crash site, confirmed for LebTown at 8:45 a.m. Friday that one victim was pronounced dead at the scene and multiple other people with injuries were transported to Lancaster General Hospital and via Life Lion helicopter to Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Reigel was not aware of their conditions when she spoke to LebTown.
None of the transported victims had been publicly identified by publication time.
First Aid and Safety Patrol, Myerstown, and Schaefferstown ambulances, WellFlight, the Lebanon County Crash Reconstruction Team, South Lebanon Township Fire Police, and the South Lebanon Township Fire Company assisted at the scene.
