Tuesday night as the clock strikes midnight, Lebanon city will hold its 28th annual Lebanon Bologna Drop to usher in 2025.
The Lebanon Bologna Drop will be held on South Eighth Street between Chestnut and Cumberland streets, with festivities beginning at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31.
D.J. Jim Payne will provide music, with Cool Beans Brew Coffee Truck offering hot refreshments. Heaters will also be placed in the event space for attendees, a release said.
The bologna, provided by Seltzer’s Smokehouse Meats, will be attached to an E&E-constructed disco ball, and will be on display starting at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Following the drop, Seltzer’s will process the bologna and donate it to the Lebanon Rescue Mission.
Attendees will have a shot at winning door prizes, provided by Seltzer’s Smokehouse Meats.
Two downtown streets will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31:
- 8th Street, Cumberland Street to Chestnut Street
- Walton Street, Gannon Street to Liberty Street
Parking in the 8th and Walton streets parking lot will also be prohibited from 3 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 1 a.m. on Jan. 1.
For the kids in attendance, Visit Lebanon Valley will provide coloring sheets, which can be submitted to a coloring contest for kids 4-10. The coloring page can also be downloaded here, and copies can be picked up at the welcome desk at Lebanon City Hall prior to the event.

Entries can be submitted at the bologna drop or dropped off at Lebanon City Hall between Dec. 31 and Jan. 7. All submissions will be displayed, and winners in the 4-6 and 7-10 age brackets will also receive special recognition.
The annual Bologna Drop is a Lebanon tradition dating back to the turn from 1997 to 1998, celebrating Lebanon’s namesake sausage (pronounced buh-low-nuh).
